What do you do?
I am the photograph archivist at the Smithsonian Institution Archives, and work primarily with the historic Photographic Services collection.
Favorite spot in DC to recommend to visitors:
One of my favorite things to do is walk around and get lost. There are so many amazing parks, memorials, statues, and structures throughout the city that it’s impossible not to encounter a little piece of history wherever you go. And although it’s no longer located in DC, The Awakening sculpture at the National Harbor is a not to be missed photo opportunity.
Collection favorites:
I am going to be a little biased here, and shout out to the Photographic Services collection I work with. It is representative of the entire history of all of the Smithsonian museums and not a day goes by when I don’t find something fascinating that tells the story both of our history at the museum, as well as the story of this city. See some of my favorite images from the collection here .
