Summary

These records of the research of Isaac Lea (1792-1886) document only a small part of his career. The most useful items are an unexpurgated manuscript of his critique of Timothy Abbott Conrad's Synopsis of the Family of Naiades of North America and some original manuscript drawings, notes, and labels for his famous study of the Unionidae. Lea gave an important collection of Unionidae to the United States National Museum.
