Records consist of the papers of Robert McCormick Adams, the ninth Secretary of the Smithsonian Institution. Papers pertain mostly to his career outside of the Smithsonian, such as his teaching career, research and fieldwork, and his affiliation with various professional societies, organizations, and institutions. Materials include correspondence, memoranda, research notes, lectures, photographs, appointment books, evaluations, reviews, newspaper clippings, journal articles, logs, and publications.
