Summary:

These records are a collection of materials from the Curatorial Department and the Department of Exhibits and Design in the Hirshhorn Museum and Sculpture Garden (HMSG). Most of the records pertain to the exhibitions, "Artistic Collaboration in the Twentieth Century," "German Expressionist Sculptures" and "America's Smithsonian Treasures from the National Museums of the United States." Materials include correspondence concerning loans; correspondence with other artists, art galleries and museums; checklists; photographs of exhibition objects; shipping and insurance documents; labels; brochures; pamphlets; flyers; press releases; newspaper clippings; research notes; photocopies of journal articles; and computer printouts. Records also include loan agreements between HMSG and other museums and artists, budget reports and projections, education promotion records, minutes, exhibition floor plans, catalogs and postcards.

Descriptive Entry

These records document the exhibition, Representation Abroad, and consist of correspondence, shipping records, exhibition plans, insurance records, and photographs of works of art used in the exhibition. Some 35 mm slides and negatives are also present.
