Summary:

This accession consists of records that document the curatorial activities of Frank Gettings, Curator of Prints and Drawings at the Hirshhorn Museum and Sculpture Garden, 1969-1999. Some exhibitions curated by Frank Gettings for the Hirshhorn included: "Picasso's Etchings: Selections from the Museum's Collection" (1975); "Robert Rauschenberg: Stoned Moon Series"(1976); "Art Deco Posters from the Library of Congress" (1980); "Raphael Soyer: Sixty-five Years of Printmaking" (1982); "Picasso Linocuts from the Museum's Collection (1991), and "WORKS: Different Drummers" (1988). Materials include correspondence, memoranda, notebooks, writings, research notes, brochures, artwork purchase proposals, valuations, collection lists, photographs of Gettings, and exhibition proposals. Please note that image files comprised of photos, slides and transparencies of individual works of art were transferred to Anna Brooke, Librarian for the Hirshhorn Museum and Sculpture Garden, for inclusion in the museum's artist study files.

Descriptive Entry

This accession consists of records that document the curatorial activities of Frank Gettings, Curator of Prints and Drawings at the Hirshhorn Museum and Sculpture Garden, 1969-1999.
