Historical Note
Louis G. Gentner (1892-1980) was a coleopterist and authority on the taxonomy of flea beetles. He spent most of his professional career as an entomologist at the Southern Oregon Experiment Station. Gentner amassed a large collection of flea beetles which he donated to the National Museum of Natural History in 1979.
Descriptive Entry
This collection consists of incoming and outgoing correspondence documenting Gentner's research on flea beetles. Most of the letters concern the identification and acquisition of specimens. Also included are newspaper clippings concerning Gentner, a copy of his bibliography, and sample labels from his collection.
