These records document the activities of Lois Marie Fink as head of the Office of Research and Professional Training from 1970 to 1978. Included are incoming and outgoing correspondence regarding internships and visiting scholar programs, and reference inquiries; memoranda sent within the Office and to Museum Director Joshua C. Taylor; a large amount of exhibition and publishing materials; correspondence concerning the NCFA exhibition entitled "Academy: The Academic Tradition in American Art: Commemorating the 150th Anniversary of the National Academy of Design," 1975; expense account records; research program schedules and reports; and volunteer records.

Historical Note

The National Collection of Fine Arts (NCFA), Office of Research and Professional Training, was created in 1970. It served as a reference resource for internal and external inquiries, and coordinated training and volunteer programs, internships and research fellowships at NCFA. Lois Marie Fink served as the Coordinator of Research, 1970-1973, and in the same capacity as Curator of Research, 1973- .
