This accession consists of records that document the Smithsonian Institution's activities with the United Nations Education Science and Cultural Organization concerning the preservation of endangered historical and cultural ruins such as Mohenjo-Daro (Pakistan), Carthage (Libya), and the Abu Nidal Egyptian temples (Philae Project, Nubian Campaign); the study of the environment (Tigris-Euphrates, Arid Lands), and a study of mosques. Also documented are Festival of India, and the National Forum on Biologic Diversity. Material include correspondence, reports, notes taken at meetings, synopses of panel discussions, and documentations collected from conferences and workshops.
