On the south side of the Castle is the four acres of grounds, the South Yard, that contains the Enid A. Haupt Garden (center) and the Renwick gate. On the left is the Arthur M. Sackler Gallery (Asian Art) (AMSG) entrance pavilion (pyramided roof) and on the right is the National Museum of African Art (NMAfA) (domed roof). Both museums opened September 28, 1987. Also seen is the west corner of the Arts and Industries Building (A&I) and in the center the Smithsonian Institution Building (SIB), the "Castle." Behind the Sackler is the kiosk, entrance to the S. Dillon Ripley International Center (RC).
