Summary

Lucile Mann, wife of former Zoo Director William Mann, dies on November 27. Originally from Ann Arbor, Michigan, she graduated from the University of Michigan and came to Washington in 1918 where she worked in military intelligence for the War Department. After the war, she served as an editor at USDA's Bureau of Entomology. She married Dr. Mann in 1926. She accompanied him on trips to Europe, Central and South America, Sumatra, and Liberia to collect animals for the Zoo. From 1951 to 1971, when she retired, she worked at the Zoo editing the annual report.
