Robert P. Multhauf (1919-2004), a historian of science specializing in the history of chemistry, served as curator in the National Museum of History and Technology, now the National Museum of American History from 1954 to 1966, when he was named Director of the museum. He was a Senior Scholar in the museum from 1970 until his retirement in 1987.
