Construction of the grand staircase in the Arthur M. Sackler Gallery (AMSG) which begins at ground level and descends to the second level. A diamond-shaped fountain on the third and deepest level may be viewed through diamond-shaped apertures on the ground and second levels. The temporary wooden railings will be replaced by brass. The very top of the Smithsonian Institution Building (SIB), or "Castle," is visible above the construction.
