Summary

Harlean James (1877-1969), Executive Secretary of the American Planning and Civic Association and the National Conference on State Parks, was engaged during the 1930s in various planning discussions, most notably about the expanding national park system described in her Romance of the National Parks (1939). She also wrote The Building of Cities (1918) and Land Planning in the United States for the City, State and Nation (1926).
