Evan J. ("Jay") Crane (1889-1966) graduated from Ohio State University in 1911 and became editor of Chemical Abstracts, working for the Chemical Abstracts Service until 1958; this photograph was taken when he received the Chemical Industry Medal from the American Chemical Society in 1937.
