Summary

Australian-born anatomist and paleoanthropologist Raymond Arthur Dart (1893-1988) was a professor and dean at the University of Witwatersrand, Johannesburg, South Africa, 1925-1943; Australian Joseph Lexden Shellshear (1885-1958) worked with Dart on research on the development of the peripheral nervous system, and was on anatomy faculty at University of Hong Kong, 1923-1936, and University of Sydney, 1937-1948. This photograph was probably taken when Dart and Shellshear visited the Marine Biological Laboratory, Woods Hole, Massachusetts, in 1921.
