The anthropologist Frederica Annis Lopez de Leo de Laguna (1906-2004) is shown with her research partner Danish ethnologist Kaj Birket-Smith (1893-1977), at a March 18, 1937, meeting where they were presenting their latest research on Eskimo and Paleo-Indian art and culture in Alaska. She chaired the anthropology department at Bryn Mawr College and was elected president of the American Anthropological Association.
