Abstract

The images document Waldo Schmitt's work during the Hancock Pacific-Galapagos Expeditions, 1933-1935. Some images have numbers or short descriptions and dates. Includes duplicates. Subject matter includes detail and general views of bird populations on shorelines; shoreline vegetation; portraits of individuals (colleagues and local inhabitants); excavation sites; flocks of birds; vegetation and arid terrain; fishermen at work; marine life collected; wildlife including reptiles, birds, penguins ; vistas of bays; ships aboard; and caves of Albermarle. Locations in South America include Albermarle [Isla Isabela], Panama, Peru, Chile (Isla Chatham), and Ecuador.
