This accession consists of records documenting the administration of the National Postal Museum (NPM) during the tenures of James H. Bruns, Director, 1991-2001; Miguel A. Bretos, Acting Director, 2001-2002; and Allen Kane, Director, 2002-2017. The records document topics such as budgets, strategic planning, personnel management, public outreach programs, exhibition development, professional affiliations, publications, and fundraising. Some earlier records date from when NPM and its collections were part of the National Museum of American History, formerly known as the National Museum of History and Technology and the Museum of History and Technology, respectively, and, prior to 1957, the United States National Museum. Materials include correspondence, memoranda, and notes; meeting agendas and minutes; financial summaries; agreements; audit information; reports; lecture papers; articles; surveys; proposals; committee, council, and NPM advisory board information; awards; and brochures.
