Summary

This accession consists of three websites maintained by the Smithsonian Conservation Commons. The Smithsonian Conservation Commons unites scientists from the Smithsonian Conservation Biology Institute, National Museum of Natural History, Smithsonian Tropical Research Institute, National Zoological Park, and Smithsonian Environmental Research Center, as well as the Smithsonian Institution's rich cultural programs and long-standing external partnerships, to tackle complex conservation problems on a global scale. The Earth Optimism website was crawled on November 9, 2020. Earth Optimism celebrates a change in focus from problem to solution in the dialogue about conservation and sustainability. The website provides information about worldwide events and Smithsonian Institution resources as well as serves as the event page for the 2020 Earth Optimism Summit organized by the Smithsonian Conservation Commons. The Working Land and Seascapes website was crawled on November 9, 2020. Working Land and Seascapes is a network of individuals and institutions that share a vision for conservation science that recognizes humanity's relationship to nature and fosters healthy and productive landscapes and seascapes for the benefit of both people and nature. The website includes information about the network, its projects, and its partners. The Movement of Life website was crawled on November 12, 2020. Movement of Life aims to advance the research and conservation of mobile species by pursuing science with direct conservation impacts and fostering a skilled, collaborative community of practice among a diverse partner network. The website includes information about species being studies and technologies being used. Materials are in electronic format.
