Summary

This accession consists of web content documenting the National Air and Space Museum event "Sally's Night." "Sally's Night," named for astronaut Sally Ride, was intended to celebrate and share the energy, passion, curiosity, and joy that science and space bring to individuals. It was a virtual, asynchronous event designed for safety during the the Covid-19 pandemic. "Sally's Night" was celebrated on June 18, 2021, the anniversary of the first time Ride saw Earth from space. The event page, located on the National Air and Space Museum website, was crawled on June 21, 2021. The web page included information about Ride and other women in the space sciences and related fields as well as ideas for celebrating "Sally's Night." The hashtag "#ShineLikeSally" was promoted by the National Air and Space Museum to be used with both official and personal Twitter posts (known as "tweets") about "Sally's Night." Twitter is a microblog. The hashtag search results were crawled on June 24, 2021. In addition, approximately 1,410 tweets using the hashtag were exported into two formats between June 16 and July 10, 2021. Materials are in electronic format.
