This accession consists of photographic images photographer Barbara Fahs Charles took of Smithsonian Institution performances, a special event, a program, museums, buildings, and visitors during the early 1970s. Subjects include Division of Musical Instruments concert director James Merle Weaver, visiting research associate Sonya Monisoff, and Judy Davidoff performing Baroque music at the National Museum of History and Technology (NMHT); Weaver playing a Stehlin harpsicord at NMHT; choreographer Shirley Wynne's dancers performing in a French opera in Baird Auditorium at the National Museum of Natural History; dancers rehearsing for and performing in the production of "There's a Good Time Coming! American Music and Ballroom Dance, 1840-1860" in the Grand Salon of the Renwick Gallery; inner-city youth learning basic aircraft restoration skills at the National Air and Space Museum's Silver Hill Facility, Suitland, Maryland; and the 1972 Smithsonian Kite Festival. Materials include contact sheets, negatives, and slides.
