Summary

This accession consists of one website and two blogs maintained by the Smithsonian Environmental Research Center (SERC). The primary SERC website was crawled on September 29, 2021. It includes information about SERC's mission, facilities, research, environmental education programs, and citizen science programs. It also includes data sets and other digital resources. Due to technical issues, some data sets as well as digital objects that were physically located on other servers may not be included in this accession. The "Shorelines: Life and Science at the Smithsonian Environmental Research Center" blog, crawled on July 12, 2021, focuses on environmental science and related issues as well as the work of SERC scientists. The first post to the blog was in October 2009. The "DVEX: Life and Death of the Introduced Tunicate Didemnum Vexillum" blog, crawled on July 12, 2021, follows investigations into potential techniques for eradication of a colonial tunicate (Didemnum vexillum) on the seafloor. The blog launched in September 2017. Materials are in electronic format.
