Summary

This accession consists of three websites maintained by the Center for Folklife and Cultural Heritage as they existed following the 2020 Smithsonian Folklife Festival. The event was being developed as a traditional in-person festival for June 24-July 1, but was disrupted by the Covid-19 pandemic. The Festival was reimagined as a series of virtual programs which occurred throughout the summer and fall of 2020. The Festival website was crawled on November 18, 2020. It provides information about the 2020 Festival as well as past festivals. It also includes a blog. Although the blog launched in 2012, this accession does not include posts dating prior to 2014. The Center for Folklife and Cultural Heritage website was also crawled on November 18, 2020. It includes information about the Center, its research initiatives, and its archival collections. It also includes the digital magazine "Folklife." The "Smithsonian Folklife Festival Marketplace" website was crawled on January 26, 2021. The Marketplace connects artisans from around the world with diverse customers. While heavily promoted during the Festival, the website is available for shopping year-round. Due to technical issues, the online product catalog may be incomplete in this accession. Materials are in electronic format.
