Summary

This accession consists of records which document the design and planning of exhibits and exhibit halls at the National Museum of American History. The materials document the Hall of Light Machinery and the Hall of Petroleum; as well as the exhibits "Clockwork Universe: German Clocks and Automata, 1550-1650" and "Inventing Sound Recording: Emile Berliner, the Grammaphone and the Disk Record." Some records date to when the museum was known as the Museum of History and Technology and the National Museum of History and Technology, as well as from then the division was known as the Department of Science and Technology, the Department of the History of Technology, and the Department of the History of Science and Technology. Materials include architectural drawings, floor plans, elevation drawings, blueprints, drawings, color samples, exhibition label scripts, black-and-white photographs, and clippings.
