Summary

This accession consists of records which document exhibits planned, developed, and executed by the Division of Science, Medicine and Society. Some materials date to before the creation of the National Museum of American History (NMAH), when its collections were a part of the United States National Museum. Additionally, some materials date to when the museum was known as the Museum of History and Technology and then the National Museum of History and Technology, and from when the division was known as the Division of Medicine and Public Health and the Division of Medical Science. Documented in this collection are the exhibit and recreation of the Bristol-Myers Squibb European Apothecary; the creation of the Hall of Medicine, Dentistry, Pharmacy, and Health; and the exhibits: M*A*S*H: Binding Up the Wounds, Triumph Over Disability: Rehabilitation Medicine in the U.S., and Artificial Anatomy: Papier-Mache Anatomical Models. Staff represented in these records include Judy M. Chelnick, Curator. Materials include correspondence; memoranda; notes; architectural drawings; floor plans; drawings; color transparencies; black-and-white negatives and transparencies; and black-and-white photographs.
