During a recent inspection tour of the U.S. Naval Hospital, San Diego, U.S. Secretary of the Navy William Franklin Knox (1874-1944) (at left carrying hat), paused in a malaria ward in the former Museum of Natural History building to chat with a patient (far left) who had returned from the South Pacific. Standing (center) are U.S. Navy Capt. Lyman Spencer Perry (1897-1975) and Capt. Morton D. Willcutts (right).
