After completion of a six month training in the exhibits laboratory of the Museum of Natural History under the tutelage of Rolland O. Hower and Watson Perrygo, N. Trinidad Pino Triana of the Museo Provincial Ignacio Agramonte of Camaguey, Cuba, is awarded a certificate of achievement in the Regents' Room in the Smithsonian Institution Building, or Castle, by Secretary Leonard Carmichael.
"Requested by Thomas Baker, Exhibits. From Torch article November, 1959: ""Since Hr. Pino was the first Latin American to complete a training program at the Smithsonian Institution as a recipient of an Organization of American States fellowship, Dr. Carmichael had invited various officials of the Cuban Embassy and the Organization of American States to be present at the ceremony. These officials were Ambassador Jose A. Fora, secretary general of the OA; Dr. Angel Palerm, executive officer of the OAS; Dr. Javier Malagon, technical secretary of the OAS fellowship program; Dr. Ernesto Dihigo, Cuban ambassador, Dr. Perez Cisneros, Cuban ambassador to the OAS; and Dr. Aurelio Giroud, in charge of cultural affairs of the Cuban Embassy.
