William Henry Jackson, then a budding photographer, took thousands of photographs for the Hayden Survey, most notably the first images of the headwaters of the Yellowstone River. Pictured are Charles R. Campbell, Frank H. Bradley, William Henry Holmes, John Merle Coulter, William Henry Jackson, and Albert Charles Peale, and others. The group is camped in front of mountains.
