Summary

This accession consists of project files documenting renovation and repair projects in museums and offices throughout the Smithsonian Institution such as the National Museum of the American Indian, Arts & Industries Building, National Museum of Natural History, National Museum of American History, National Zoological Park, Smithsonian Astrophysical Observatory, Smithsonian Business Ventures, Smithsonian Environmental Research Center, Post Office Building, National Air and Space Museum, Renwick Gallery building, Hirshhorn Museum and Sculpture Garden, Freer Gallery of Art, Arthur M. Sackler Gallery, National Portrait Gallery, Smithsonian Institution Building, Cooper-Hewitt Museum, and Quadrangle Building. Project files on microfiche and aperture cards date from when the Office of Facilities Engineering and Operations was known as the Office of Facilities Services, the Office of Facilities Planning and Engineering Services, and the Office of Design and Construction. Materials include correspondence, memoranda, and notes; budget summaries; contracts and agreements; manuals; submittals; specifications; photographs; floor plans; construction schedules; modifications; test results, daily and monthly progress reports; product samples; employee logs; and meeting minutes. Some materials are in electronic format.
