Music-on-the Mall concert featuring a narration by Adlai E. Stevenson of Aaron Copland's "Lincoln Portrait" with orchestral support from the National Symphony Orchestra on the south terrace of the Museum of History and Technology, now known as National Museum of American History, and a performance of the Saint-Saens Concerto No. 2 in G Minor by pianist Andre Watts, with Secretary S. Dillon Ripley, Mary Livingston Ripley, National Symphony Orchestra conductor Howard Mitchell, and United States National Museum Director Frank A. Taylor.
