U.S. Army Brigadier General Egbert Wesley Van Delden Cowan was Director of Dental Activities, Walter Reed Army Medical Center, and had been awarded the Bronze Star with an oak leaf cluster for his service in World War II. The Cowan Dental Clinic at Fort Sill, Oklahoma, is named in his honor.
