Summary

This collection contains two field books by Leonhard Stejneger, originally maintained by the Division of Birds. These field books contain dated entries detailing hunting, collecting, and observation of birds, including physical descriptions and other relevant data. Field books are organized by species, and localities may include but may not be limited to Hawaii, Japan, the Faeroe Islands, and Bering Island in the Russian Commander Islands group. One of the books is in Norwegian and the dates for the collection range from 1871-1883. Some sketches are also included.
