Summary

This collection is comprised of field notes, correspondence, specimen labels, annotated manuscripts, and specimen determination lists collected during the Cinchona Missions Expedition (1930s-1960s). It includes documents pertaining to research done by a variety of organizations on the Rubiaceae family of plants. These organizations include but are not limited to: the American Quinine Company, the United States Foreign Economic Administration, the United States Department of Agriculture's Agricultural Research Administration within the Bureau of Plant Industry, the United States National Museum, and the Herbarium of the National Arboretum. The collection also includes an inventory of collections transferred to the National Herbarium in 1952.
