From 1929 until 1962, Marjorie Van de Water (1900-1962) covered advances in psychology and sociology for Science Service, winning several journalism awards and the admiration of social scientists for diligent coverage of these emerging fields. Her insights became particularly useful during and after World War II, when news publications attempted to explain the techniques of political propaganda and the psychological impacts and implications of war.
