This accession consists of approximately 500 of the email messages of Susan Lubowsky Talbott, Smithsonian Arts Director, 2005-2008. These records document overall budgeting and planning for art museums at the Smithsonian Institution. Topics documented in this accession include development, special events, major contracts, agreements, funding, exhibitions, distinguished visitors, and accounting procedures. In particular, much of Talbott's email relates to the reopening of the Patent Office Building. This accession includes only those messages residing in Talbott's "Inbox," in which she almost exclusively kept received messages. This accession does not include email filed into other folders. Talbott's email account appears to have been created, but rarely used, prior to her official appointment. All materials are in electronic format.
