Cytologist Sophia A. Satina (1879-1975), shown with geneticist Albert Francis Blakeslee, was born in Russia, where she taught at the Women's College of Moscow until 1921. Satina's research collaboration with Blakeslee began in 1937, focusing primarily on plant tumors.
