Summary

Consists of records documenting additions and renovations to the house which served as the Museum of African Art and Frederick Douglass Institute of Negro Arts and History located in Washington, D.C. The museum was later joined the Smithsonian Institution and became the National Museum of African Art. The house, which served as the Museum's home until it became part of the Smithsonian Institution, was, at one time, owned by Frederick Douglass. Materials include architectural drawings, floor plans, and sketches, some with annotations.
