Summary

Consists records documenting the activities of the Special Assistant to the Secretary for Bicentennial Planning, John J. Slocum, 1969-1974. Materials include correspondence between Slocum and various persons and organizations he dealt with in carrying out his duties. They also document some of his personal interests, notably numismatics and the work of the English Speaking Union. Materials dated after 1974 represent Slocum's occasional consultant work to the Smithsonian.
