Consists of records documenting relations between the Sackler Family and the Freer Gallery of Art and Arthur M. Sackler Gallery through the Director, acquisitions to the Sackler collection, the Sackler/Smithsonian agreement, Sackler events, donations and gifts, the Arthur M. Sackler Foundation/Gallery development, and trips, during the tenures of Thomas Lawton, Director, 1977-1987, and Milo Cleveland Beach, Director, 1987-2001. Materials include press releases, correspondence, memoranda, press clippings, biographical information, meeting agendas, agreements, floor plans, lists of objects, photocopies of photographs of objects, transmittal forms for gifts and grants, copies of checks, financial transaction lists, lists of gift and non-gift honorariums, input vouchers, requests for building services, statistical summaries of collections, and copies of articles.
