Notes
- This is an agency history. It does not describe actual records. The Smithsonian Institution Archives uses these histories as brief accounts of the origin, development, and functions of an office or administrative unit to set that unit in its historical context. To find information on record holdings, please double-click the highlighted field "Creator/Author", which will open on a brief view of relevant records.
- Smithsonian Year, 1990
- "Smithsonian Young Benefactors Say Goodbye with 'A View from the East'", Daniel Swartz, February 3, 2011, Revamp, http://www.revamp.com/story.php?StoryID=987, accessed September 27, 2021.
- The Young Benefactors program is intended to involve individuals between the ages of 25 and 45 in raising unrestricted funds for the Smithsonian Institution, to increase awareness of the Smithsonian's goals among young professionals, and to build foundations for future support.
- Fern Segerlind was Program Manager, 1991-1993, followed by Holly Dell Shaheen (later Holly Dell Tyler), 1994. Apparently the program began reporting to the Associate Director for Marketing and Membership in 1995. The Young Benefactors appears to have ended in 2011.
- For a history of the larger creating unit, refer to "Forms part of " above.
