Summary

Consists of records documenting the administrative activities regarding the Manpower Research and Advisory Services in cooperation with the Office of Naval Research (ONR). H. Wallace Sinaiko was Program Assistant, 1972-1974; and Program Director, 1994, reporting to the Assistant Secretary for Science, before 1985; the Assistant Secretary for Research, 1985-1992; the Assistant Secretary for the Sciences, 1992-1994; and the Assistant Provost for the Sciences in 1995. The project was concerned with the analysis of U.S. Navy manpower and personnel issues associated with the changeover to an all-volunteer force. ONR organized conferences and symposia on a variety of related topics through their Manpower R&D Committee; and the program participated in annual meetings of the Inter-University Seminar on Armed Forces and Society. Materials include correspondence, memoranda, reports, research notes, proposals, meeting minutes, personnel, newspaper clippings, and conference materials, budget records, and publications.
