Summary

Consists of records documenting the transfer of Hillwood, former home of Marjorie Merriweather Post, to the Smithsonian and creation of the Hillwood Museum; during the tenure of Charles Blitzer, Acting Assistant Secretary, 1967-1968; and Assistant Secretary, 1968-1983. Records created prior to 1967 refer to a small portion of publicity and miscellaneous records dating from that early period. Materials include correspondence, memoranda, notes, budget papers, loan files, vendor files, grounds and garden files; copies of agreements; and a will.
