Summary

Consists of records documenting the planning, construction, and equipping of the Museum Support Center, the major facility constructed in suburban Maryland to care for Smithsonian Institution collections. The Museum Support Center was built during the tenure of Paul N. Perrot, Assistant Secretary,1972-1983; and William N. Richards, Jr., Acting Assistant Secretary, 1983- 1986. The facility was occupied in 1983. Materials include architectural drawings, floor plans, notes, sketches, budget materials, and equipment files. Some records relating to the Center are also included in Record Series 725, Subject Files.
