Summary

Consists of records documenting the activities of the Program in African American Culture, with earlier records dating back to its predecessors, the Program in African American History, 1989-1992; the Program in Black American Culture, 1982-1989; and the Afro-American Cultural History Project, which reported to the Director General of Museums. Materials include correspondence, memoranda, and notes; exhibition records; meeting agendas and minutes; information pertaining to African American folklore, music, and culture; program brochures and schedules; budget summaries; contracts and agreements; reports; information about the Duke Ellington Youth Project; articles regarding special events; and press releases. Some materials are in electronic format.
