Consists of records that document the planning, design, fabrication, and installation of National Air Museum and National Air and Space Museum exhibitions in the Arts and Industries Building, the National Air and Space Museum Building which opened in 1976, and the Steven F. Udvar-Hazy Center which opened in 2003. Earlier records date back to when the Exhibits Design Department was known as the Exhibitions Division; the Exhibits and Presentation Division; the Divison of Exhibits and Public Spaces; the Exhibits Department; and the Exhibits and Public Services Department. Materials include correspondence, memoranda, and notes; reports; policy statements; procedure lists; reviews; contracts and agreements; diagrams; proposals; scripts; floor plans; drawings and sketches; design development information; specifications; budget summaries; photographs, slides, and negatives; elevations; brochures; pamphlets; books; press releases and newspaper clippings; audiovisuals; and invitations. Some materials are in electronic format.
