PrintConsists of Congressional records documenting Smithsonian interests and activities, such as the establishment of a national air and space museum, the transfer of the Old Patent Building to the Smithsonian to house the National Collection of Fine Arts and the National Portrait Gallery, the establishment of the National Portrait Gallery, and the incorporation of the Corcoran Gallery of Art into the Smithsonian Institution, National Collection of Fine Arts. Materials include House of Representatives and Senate bills, Congressional subcommittee hearing transcripts, and transcripts of Congressional Records. These records were previously maintained by the Library and transferred to the Smithsonian Institution Archives.
