Consists of records documenting the history of the Mammal Identification Service, which was directed by Principal Investigator Charles O. Handley, and by Curators Gary L. Ranck, 1966-1967, and Ronald Herbert Pine, 1967-1973. Materials include correspondence concerning the creation of the project, the identification of mammal specimens, professional activities, and administrative matters; proposals submitted to the National Institutes of Health to provide funding for the Service; annual reports and final report of the project; and administrative records.
