Summary

This collection consists of an unpublished, two volume manuscript on chitons by Carpenter. The manuscript was apparently intended for publication by the Smithsonian, but the project was abandoned after Carpenter's death. Parts of the manuscript are written in his personal shorthand and are virtually indecipherable.
