What did you do at the Archives?
I’m a paper and audio-visual conservator by training, and run the Collections Care Division of the Smithsonian Institution Archives. Collections Care deals with preservation and conservation across the Smithsonian, and manages photograph fulfillment for the historic Smithsonian Photographic Services photo archive.
Favorite spot in DC to recommend to visitors
A truly favorite place to go is the Historic Congressional Cemetery.
Collection Favorites
In Record Unit 217, Smithsonian Institution Library Records, 1865-1951, there’s a personal note from my great, great aunt, Harriet Wheeler Pierson, a librarian at the Library of Congress in the early 1900s, to Cyrus Adler (then the Smithsonian librarian). This was a serendipitous discovery on one of the first rehousing projects that I did.
