Summary

Hotel Pinho, Brazil, from Mary Agnes Chase's scrapbook of a botanical collecting expedition to Brazil in 1929. Chase is standing to the left, in the large hat. Chase specialized in the study of grasses, as a botanist for the United States Department of Agriculture and as honorary curator of grasses for the United States National Herbarium at the Smithsonian, and conducted extensive field work in South America.
